Beyond The Academy:
Fire Service Power Saw Operations

The power saw is one of the most dangerous tools in the fire service. These gas powered machines spin a blade up to 5,500 revolutions per minute, and are in many cases placed in the hands of firefighters whose training may be limited to a fire academy "how to start" course. Fireground operations require us to operate these saws in hostile environments, and in orientations unique to our profession. Let the experienced instructors of Brotherhood Instructors, LLC discuss, demonstrate and oversee your members using those techniques SAFELY and EFFICIENTLY. A PowerPoint discussion will provide a comprehensive overview of various power saws, blade types, and basic maintenance. The discussion will be reinforced by hands-on training on our original, custom-built props. Props will include roof top operations with chain-saws and circular saws, and various saw orientations for the forcible entry (metal-cutting) power saw. This class may spell the difference between life and death if one of YOUR members becomes trapped behind window bars in your community. Don't let the aforementioned scenario be the first time one of your members have operated a power saw over their head!
