Beyond The Academy:
Aggressive Search Operations
|
 |
Due to increased fire
prevention and decreased fire duty, our present day
firefighters do not receive the on-the-job experience as our
predecessors. Due to manpower concerns of many departments,
primary searches may be overlooked because all hands are
used to stretch attack lines. However, what if you are
arriving and assigned to conduct a primary search? When is
the last time you conducted a primary search? Do you have a
plan? Where are the victims likely located? This new
Brotherhood Instructors, LLC course will give you a
systematic plan of attack for conducting SAFE, yet
AGGRESSIVE searches in houses and apartment buildings.
Discussion and scenarios will be discussed in a Powerpoint
format followed by several rotations where class members
will conduct operations as members of the "Inside Team"
forcing a door and conducting a search. Members will also
conduct Vent, Enter & Search functioning as members of an
"outside team". Life-size or live victims will be used for
realism. Despite what some instructors currently teach,
Brotherhood Instructors, LLC refuses to consider victims
trapped in fires equations or write-offs. While some victims
cannot be saved, we will teach you ways that AGGRESSIVE
searches can be conducted effectively and intelligently to
provide those victims that CAN be saved the best chance of
survival. |
